Nice to see a scholarly review of this issue in layman terms, great book. Answered my questions with substantiation.

Brewer is able to boil down the problems and solutions from Scripture in a pastoral (he was a Baptist minister for years) and scholarly (he has a Ph.D. in first-century rabinnic Judaism) way as it relates to marriage, divorce, and re-marriage. Must-read for anyone confused by how Jesus and Paul seem to differ in their understanding of divorce and re-marriage.

A must read for anyone trying to understand what the Bible really has to say about divorce.

Five stars to the author of this book!! It is so long over due. I wish that every christian believer would read this and spare themselves a lifetime of pain, guilt and condemnation. It goes directly back to the original text and translations and cultural contexts. It will open your eyes and heart as you realize God is not a judgemental God, but truely a loving father. Buy several copies to pass around!!!
