Hock the platinum. Take down the vacation photos. Cancel the joint checking account. There’s no question . . . Divorce Sucks. And perhaps no one knows that better than author Mary Jo Eustace, whose ex-husband Dean McDermott married Tori Spelling a mere thirty days after their divorce was finalized. One part tell-all and one part guide to get readers on their feet after a bitter breakup, this hilarious addition to the bestselling Sucks series tells everything readers … More >>

I somewhat disagree with the other reviews thus far. I felt the story was hard to follow in areas. It seemed more like a rant that would take off and gain a life of its own for awhile and I was left wondering, “Is she still talking about her marriage or are we onto a different or random “what if” this happened to you scenario”. Plus I couldn’t stand the whole top 10 count-down lists of you know your life sucks if…. Yes deal with lifes tragedies with some humor but it seemed more bitter than anything. And repetative as to what “Tori” did to her. More directed at her than her husband, who should be responsible for his own actions. I think its funny everyone has accused Dean of marrying Tori to further his career, yet Mary Jo purposely uses her name on the front cover to sell her book, Candy uses her to sell her book…Seems Tori is making alot of people’s career go somewhere. She’s obviously the fuel behind the book purchases. How hypocritical. I had hoped to gain another perspective and maybe feel bad for her plight because yes it is a terrible story, being left with a baby is a horrible and vunerable spot to be put in, but for some reason I couldn’t feel it. And I think it was because of the way the book was written. The underlying message to use your head during a divorce and to not be run by emotion only is helpful, but also makes her sound cold and calculating throughout the book and I think thats where I had a hard time feeling bad too. I don’t believe this is a true self help book even though there may be a few points you can take away from this book to put to practicle use. If I was looking for a step by step book to get through divorce I would purchase something with the lack of personal issues mixed in. But if your in the anger stage and want a fellow angry woman with a mean sense of humor mixed in, then this is the book for you.

I was hoping for juicy details of her side of the divorce story but not so much.

I found this book to be very boring. I didn’t enjoy it at all. I didn’t even finish reading it. I donated it to my library.

Being BIG Tori and Dean fans I thought there would be lots of gossip about THE divorce. Not so–it was a Divorce Self Help book w/ a few errors. There were only a few,vey few, pages devoted to “Tori and Dean”. I guess the book wasn’t trashy enough.I felt deceived by the info on the book jacket front. However, Amazon was absolutely amazing about the whole return and refund process. For that reason I will not hesitate to purchase another book from Amazon.

I was fully expecting the author’s story of losing her husband to a Hollywood actress. Instead, this is a guide to surviving divorce with not a whole lot of her personal story included. I’m not even married, so I don’t need a guide to divorce. And being an optimist, I will not save this book for when it happens to me!
